Stop me before I rant again!!!!!!!

One or two more tiny rants before I get back to posting some cool obscure out of print music that I hope & pray CBS-Sony doesn't object too.
I was thinking about all this copyright this and copyright that bullshit I've been reading from several sources, and all of a sudden a big question popped into my head.....
Where the fuck are my rights? I guess I better buy a good pair of headphones because if Cary and his henchmen get their way, I might get sued for sharing sound waves of their precious bands. I am getting downright sick and fucking tired of everyone else's rights getting in the way of my rights as a consumer.
In a lot of ways this coincides with the post I made not too long ago about people getting alert and waking up to what is going down around them.
Back to the point----where can I find what rights I do have as a buyer of music (and movies as well) in the good old USSA. When I was twelve I bought a record album of Black Sabbath's Sabotage. When I was fourteen I bought the cassette, and a few years back I bought the damn CD. Now is it illegal for me to download the MP3's since I now have supposedly have some rights of ownership? Or can my 1995 burp and fart car be confiscated for doing so? Can I let my friends hear it legally? Will radio soon be only playing snippets of songs so no one can tape them of the airwaves? God forbid!!! Will the libraries soon only be able to loan out promo snippet copies of CDs and DVDs with constant 800 numbers flashing across the screen asking me to narc on the offending source of obtainment?
Does anyone know what my rights are and/or where I can find them? Or don't I have any other than being able to play my copy of my recording I purchased in a dark room by myself.

And to switch gears slightly and retouch on a oft-mentioned topic:

And to hit slightly on a related topic----It takes me back to the 80s when the RIAA was screaming foul at the makers of blank cassettes and boohooing that it would "kill the music". It didn't.
And here is a newsflash RIAA and henchmen. Bloggers aren't going to kill the music either and as long as MTV Cribs and all the other various TV tabloids are showing us the various houses of the stars (usually huge mansions with 8-10 cars parked outside) and all their flamboyant lifestyle choices, you aren't going to find many people sympathizing with you. Yes, again, I am a sensible person and I realize not all bands and artists are rich like that. But I can read, and I see the sales figures in billboard magazine and if the artists and performers aren't doing too well, it's probably got something to do with the life-draining contracts you've nailed them to, not the file swappers, and you just need a scapegoat.

to me, when it comes to the out of print music that still has copyright, these people need to figure out what side of the fence to be on. You can't have it both ways. You can't decide that you're not going to print a record, and thus not make money from it -- and THEN turn around and say that no one else can not make money from it. It's logically retarded (and I think a triple-negative the way I said it).

Why not go after the dude who sells the same record for hundreds on Gemm or Ebay or down the street?

It boggles the mind.

Well because once you have purchased the "product", you own some kind of RIAA derived resale right and there is no limit on it, as long as it is the one copy you purchased legitimately. Don't try to sell a "pirated" copy of that same otherwise unobtainable material or you might just get yo' ass sued off!!

There is just so much double talk and hypocricy in the music biz, it's a shame. Even those who dictate the laws in the industry rarely seem to know what the fuck is really going on. And that's probably the scariest part of it all. The rules get made after they are broken!

Pirating happens in spite of the web and it can be done without the copyright police checking on you while you surf.

People can go to the lending library, borrow cd's copy them and / or convert them into mp3's. Throughout the world, friends, family and acquaintances borrow and lend to each other cd's , by doing this, people can check out the music - if they like it, they will usually go out and 'buy' more. Word of mouth and taking samples is the best way of advertising music. Sites like this have a likewise facility. When products are offered as samples by the companies, people are not fully convinced, it's their product and they will only hype it. Time Traveller and the like, offers an independent commentary and recommendation, these turn out to be their worth the weight in advertising gold.

Copyright is ok to protect the artists invention or arrangement of original content of creation.Yet marketing big business still wants money no matter what format you get it in.Some Ive bought in LP, 8track to cassette and mini disc.At some point I figured that through changing formats Ive been screwed. Thus recorders became very popular.Today piratism is the big fear of someone else profiting from their product and the sharing of it also. What they dont realize is that through sharing, some artists are actually heard for the very first time no matter what era it came from and those who desire the hard copy seek out and buy the CD to have in their library with all the pertinent info that comes with it also bragging rights of having the hard copy.I have a room full of hard copies. This ensures sales of music to a new generation and old alike that have forgotten or never heard the Lps.I personally think their witch hunt is misdirected by greed since Ive rebought the same music in diff formats.Of course we all know the artists gets screwed by these same people making more money off the artists music than the artist themselves.I ask all the used record stores, pawn shops and the like, if they sell the music arent they profiting and sharing?Seems the people are getting the full turn of the screw and to why it hasnt been beaten in court I figure is big money over people who cant afford the big high price attorney and then he/she is probably paid off to sell you out.Its a no win situation and those that keep sharing alive only helps the artist.Heck I wish someone would share mine just to get it to people to hear.I have a new CD out and still put out songs from some of it on the net in lower cast form to see if people like it and can buy it in wav form (CD) if they want.I know the true likers of it will buy and those that dont go on to something else or are tin earred and happy with the lower cast form presentation of it.Either way big deal eh?Ive recorded 14 CDs of different genres of music and who knows me?I have them all copyrighted and registered with ascap but I dont think theyll take anyone to court over my stuff and why not?Isn't that bias? Oh, I get it, only the big sellers and if youre in their club deal ahhh makes sense. Its greed and corruption at its finest.I say screw em , make me lol Glad to see yer back and posting , stop by an visit,Ive got obscure music too lol and the music pork police doest ride there.L8ze

A friend of mine told me David Bowie was asked,"What do you think about people downloading your music?" So the story goes Bowie's replied,"If anyone can download, everything I have recorded,I will pay that person 1 Million $". Bowie's talent and his fans have made Bowie $$$!!!We are the ones who pay to hear his albums'and pay to see Bowie live!!!

One more thing, if our country is so great, why are millions of jobs a year moving out of it?

And why is it considering making millions of illegal aliens legal so the working poor have even less opportunities?

Face if you are poor in America you are worthless to it, and they'd rather see you dead.

I deleted my first post, But prove to me that America is so much better than all the other countries of the world.

And sign your name when you do Mr. Patriotic.

It constantly amazes me that 'big business' whines about file-sharing: I find it really difficult to feel sorry for them when they complain of profits falling from x billion to y billion...

As for anonymous's comment about freedom outside the US: I live in Scotland (the bit of Britain that isn't England!) and despite rumours to the contrary, we are not all serfs who belong to Her Majesty the Queen...

Well all musicians who started recording and performing their music have maked so much money that they can live with it for thousand years.Mick Jagger and keith Richards wrote that song with refrain You're a star, fucking star so let be that. We, ordinary people who are payed about 800 Euros per month and we are not complaining. But money isn't all on this world. Did you ever heard that some musician have done something volunterly. I have never heard anything. So, why are we, ordinary people always questening ourselves what is right or wrong. We are really to honest, always paying all taxes and bills, driving cars with right speed, helping older people, beeing volunteers etc... Do we really have take care about that what is legally or what is not. Nowadays, in the computer age. everythig is regular and legal.
