Some amazing facts........

I promise not to go off this time. I just saw on TV that BP and Exxon are both making profits of over a thousand dollars a SECOND each on the news this morning. Can you imagine that kind of money? I Can't. Can't even dream about it.

The RIAA affiliates stand to make over 4 billion dollars profit this year, barring another castatrophy like a slump in the economy. Again, that's profit. Nowhere near the BP and Exxon profits, but not too damn shabby. And that's not including the millions they are making by suing their own customers. Nice coin RIAA, make sure Lars gets that second yacht he so desperately needs.

Well, why the fuck are we getting so uptight over free shit? Why are nice friendly folks just trying to pass on their knowledge of obscure bands you probably would have never heard unless they let you running for cover? Because it's not good enough, right? It has to be perfect so, God forbid we don't have to (warning, dirty word to follow) BUY this stuff right? Couldn't we tape damn near perfect copies off our favorite radio stations? Oops, I forgot. Clear channel with the tightest playlists in the world control most of what you hear on the airwaves. If it ain't P Diddy (or whatever he's calling himself this hour), Madonna, that grey haired goof from American Idol or the latest boy band forget it, you don't need to hear it. So that's not the whole answer is it?

And here we have netterrorists who think they are helping the RIAA to get rid of bad people. Actually all they are doing is closing the gap once again, to the way it was before the internet. Hey, if you didn't hear it on WWTF then you didn't know it existed right? Unless you knew a cool record store guy or had a cool college station that played whatever they wanted too (lots of times they played albums all the way through SHOCK!!!! HORROR!!!!) .

Yes, there are blogs out there that love to pop the latest albums up before you can get them anywhere else. But if a person likes the album, chances are they are gonna go buy the "real thing" as soon as it comes out. If the person doesn't, what has the artist lost? Nothing because the sale wasn't going to be made anyway.

Oh, but they have listening posts at Wal-Mart to let you hear it before you buy it. But no one can make a good informed choice by that. I think the biggest scam is NOT to let you hear it a few times before you buy it. Would you buy a car without a test drive. Bad comparison, I know, but I'm pissed right now so let it go. Know what I think? The powers that be are afraid to let you hear there crappy product. Ford probably cringed when folks test drove their Pinto's too.

I am getting way off the topic that I wanted to discuss here. Blogs are being torn down over silliness right now and either it has to stop or blogowners are gonna say the hell with it and give up. Wanna see what I'm talking about, look in my comments two posts before this one. I don't give a shit and I know it's part of the game, but it's getting worse than that. Innocent people who just want to turn you on to some real good music are packing it in and saying "Fuck it, I don't need this bullshit". Quit biting the hand that shares with you before it's too late.

There have been some heavy casualties in this war, R.I.P. Chris Goes Rock, Mondo Daddykin, Groovy Fab blog and Forum, Spychedelic, and others. Who's next?

We need to get together as a team and fight this bullshit. Hey then maybe as a team we can take on Exxon and BP and the RIAA and Clear Channel and every other fucking multi-national conglomerate that is fucking up this piss-poor excuse for a world right now.

Hope this means something.........................

What happened to Groovy Fab Forum?
All of a sudden, it was just gone!
No announcement, nothing!

You are correct, brother. I play in a band and have played in bands for 25 years. Given the choice between the records I've played on sitting in a store somewhere, unbought, and someone actually listening to the shit, even if he downloaded it for free, I will always choose the second. I'm not in this for the money. I want people to hear my music.

Yeah, fully agree, brother. There's a lot of music I've found on these blogs I never heard of before. But then again, quite some records are only available through small to very small labels. As long as blogs offer unknown records the RIAA et all won't bother. It is these small companies we have to care about, so they can carry on releasing onscure albums (especially those from long ago). Let us all think about that too! If you publish a very rare (re)release and it gets 500 downloads, it means more to this small company than 5000 Madonna downloads tp a major company.
Maybe it's a good idea to put up links to the small companies or anywhere else where one can buy records they release.
Keep up the good thing!

Hear hear!!! This is all music that would VANISH if not for blogs keeping it alive. Far as I can tell, blogging is good for the artist who may not get heard any other way, good for the record company that may never sell another of the artist's albums without blogs that allow it to be sampled (even whole albums worth), and good for the consumer who needs any god-damn avenue available that broadens what is out there to be heard. Keep it up.

Hi ! I'm grapho... I changed my name and opened a new blog :)

Hell, I imagine it's some rare-record sellers trying to shut down the blogs. They are the only ones with that much to lose from these blogs. What the fuck does a band that hasn't played for 30 years and released one record that no one ever heard of have to lose?

I sure as hell will never pay hundreds of dollars for some "rare" record held hostage by a dealer. I don't need to own the record; I want to hear the music. If my choice is "buy it or never hear it," my life isn't worse if I choose the latter.

Or maybe the perpetrator is some pathologically obsessive collector sorry to see the value of his precious vinyl dwindling. Fuck him, too. It's 2006, Junior: time to come out of your mother's basement.

If you really love the music, you'll want everyone to hear it.

Let people hear the music! Those who want to buy it will buy it. Those who cannot or will not buy it would never have bought it in the first place.

KEEP THIS BLOG ALIVE

Hey Everybody!

I'm really getting started to get an interest in obscure psych/prog bands from the early 70s' (around about the time I was born).
Many of these records have become really rare and if it wasn't for the good people who convert these albums to mp3, I never would have the pleasure of knowing that kind of music. Obviously I'm not the only one who feels that way...
Blogs like this one should actually be encouraged to continue their fine work. Preserving great music from the past and getting it out there for everyone to enjoy today and maybe even in another 30 years, when vinyl records will have disappeared completely.
So in a way you guys are fulfilling a noble task in your efforts to preserve rare works of art for generations to come!

Keep up the good work!

Grtz,
Werner (Belgium).

"Hell, I imagine it's some rare-record sellers trying to shut down the blogs. They are the only ones with that much to lose from these blogs."

Probably not! It's the scarcity of the media that determines the price of rare records. Electronic copies don't affect the price of a rare record one bit (pun intended).

Put it another way: what do you think is worth more: the actual Mona Lisa painting, or a jpeg version?

I feel that if people can have fun doing something they like, others will always try to stop it. I guess thats their fun. The thing that i really enjoy is the chance to hear bands or lps that i have heard of or read about but have never had a chance to hear. i must delete 90% of what i down load but that chance to hear it was was worth it be it a rip from lp cd or cassette. if you love the music it shouldn,t matter. As long as i was able to hear a couple notes of something i have never heard before my day is made and i am thankful to all you guys that made it possible. THANKS AGAIN Bruce

GFF is deleted because someone had the guts to accuse god (you know who I mean) of stuff, and Jiltz didn't like a friend to be criticised.

Well shit to mr God and keep up the great music here on TT. I love it to find new sound to play. I thank you for your work TT.

Boys,
Haven't you worked out yet that the music being shared here and on other blogs is dimetrically opposed to the sellout mainstream "punk" or gang dancing dribble that the global interests are seeking to subtly control your minds by. With this in mind it is therefore not in global business interest to have it being propogated in any way shape or form..... they would've been hoping it dead more quickly than it has lingered on for, as what this music represents was a time when there was a potential to incite some form of free will and thinking.... God forbid the ability to make an informed choice and fuel creativity.... any monkey sinking low enough to launch attacks on these sites for whatever purile reasoning should be aware that they whether they realise it or not, are doing the bidding of the masters of the machine driving the push for your subconsciuos subjagation....... and they think they get a little kick out of ruining these things ...!! What they're really doing is assisting in the robbing of your mind of the totality of existance and in effect treasonous to humanity of kind.... You might say, "well it's only music", sure, but take your head out of the sand and notice how many other facets of our lives are being affected by this type of manipulation , subjagation and rule....and NO I'm not being paranoid either.... it's so obvious these days it's a joke to think otherwise.
Oh and boys, it's the bloggers choice to post whatever they feel like.... if you don't like ... STIFF! No one else needs to know your opinion and any self centred airing of it in the fashion we've already seen displayed on this blog is not welcome.... so please, BUGGER OFF!

Will do shortly, TT!

Cool watcher, you totally got the gist of what I was trying to convey on my little rant there!! I wish I had said some of what you said. This is music sharing, a small insignificant blog with nothing earth shattering or mind boggling going on, and yet in another way it does represent the way the world is going. And I'm not real happy with the way it's going, one company controls what you listen too, one company controls what you watch, what you read, where you go, what you do, where the fuck will it end?

If someone deletes my links, I'll just repost them. These blogs really help me determine what records I will and will not buy. Downloading the stuff certainly hasn't cured me of my record addiction! I'm buying more records than ever ;)
Keep up the good work! I love your blog.

Hi,
watcher and time traveller, that's exact the problem. It's not only music, it's much more. There are few companies ruling the world. This is a new kind of facism. And this fucking guy is nothing than a KZ (concentration camp)-soldier doing his dirty work for them. The time will come we have to start the fight.

I agree with everything you said. I hope you will continue on your way...that being said, lets talk music. Do you have any Hot Tuna or the Kings lp (I think called here are) with Switching to GLide?

To the guy who wants to talk music-- there is a Hot Tuna LP posted somewhere here I think, do a search on the top of the home page and it should pop up. I have several others. If you want to, let me know what you are looking for and I'll see what I can do. I have the Kings Are Here on disc. I'll add it to my next update, hopefully tomorrow or Monday.

Thanks for posting rare shit. You do it because you want to share.
You don't have a fucking DONATION button. You don't have a thousand items up because you want a free month of CRAPIDSHARE.
I think under your anger you do understand that artists are entitled to respect and copyright and having all their rights reserved.
You also know that when you buy a movie ticket it's too fucking bad if you don't like the movie, so let's not condone downloading movies because IF you like it you MIGHT buy the DVD someday.
It doesn't say on a CD "please copy this motherfucker so that eventually 100s of blogsites and forums will have it for free."
Jeez. Know who started all this shit? Hans. Right from the start. His damn boxed sets and complete discographies and daring anyone to do anything about it. And who was his ally? Jiltz.
Who ruined it? Who turned up the heat? Lots of blogs do share. They don't ask for tips. They don't post everything they own. They are thriving. They
will keep going. Thousands of blogs are doing just fine without passwords and link hiding or anything but some common sense about what they do and how they do it.

Anonymous said...

Hi
I requested the Hot Tuna. Do you have the compilation cd by any chance? If not, any would be ok. I don't have any of their stuff. I can't wait for the Kings lp. I loved that when it came out.

I must say i'm in total agreement with your post and most of the comments posted here.
You're preaching to the choir TT.
The question remains though, who is this immediate unknown enemy?
The blue meanies who destroy the work of good bloggers like yourself, are having a successful period, but do we really know who they are or what motives they may have?
You have put a lot of work in to finding, encoding, uploading and posting the amazing music you have here, you should at least protect your work by using one of the link hiding sites.
Protect the legacy!
I was lucky, i found your site a while back and got the things i was after from it before this all started.
Some 17 year old kid at the musical crossroads, may stumble upon it in a weeks time, find all the links dead and return to the herd and his Eminem cds, without ever knowing how close he'd come to musical cornucopia.
Music is the greatest.
Keep up the good work TT, and apoligies for my unfocussed ramblings, i'm sure you get the gist of what i'm trying to say.
