Return to the Tune Age

Well, thanks everyone for your understanding and respect (at least most of you anyways) while I went off on a tangent. My apologies for taking so long to get back to the music, but here is some stuff for ya. Not a huge amount of stuff, but some stuff, nonetheless. For starters, here is Stan Webb & Chicken Shack's 1973 LP Unlucky Boy.

And next up the only Nutz LP I haven't yet posted. This is their Live One from '77. Very cool stuff too!

Jim Dandy & the boys are still slogging it out after all these years and here is an album of their's that fell through the cracks. I don't much about it, because most people don't seem to care much about these guys anymore. They can still rock and this album from 2001 that is extrememly hard to find proves it.

And finally a very nice psych LP from 1969. This is the Paper Garden's sole LP, released on the Musicor label which jumped on the psych bandwagon too late to matter (this and Rebbeca & the Sunnybrook Farmers where the extent of it, I believe). But this one is highly sought after and routinely goes for 80 dollars plus. And it's probably worth it too.

Hey Time Traveller, great blog! I have a huge favor to ask. Would you be able to reupload that Power of Zeus album. I would immensely appreciate it.

hey, just wanted to let you know that i like some black oak also, even though most of my friends think i'm out of my mind. would love to know some history; jim dandy seemed to have this country fried cult of personality thing that didn't really make sense with his captain beefheart singing. plus the three or four guitars. my favorite album would have to be keeping the faith. i thought the quality went into pretty steep decline.. will check this out. thanks!

Hi Bryon,
sorry i've been poor at keeping in touch recently, life keeps getting in the way!
Just a wee bit of additional info on the Black Oak Arkansas album, it was actually released in 1986, and reissued in 2001, hence the confusion over the release date. I'm a huuuge BOA fan, and while this is by no means their finest album, there's still much to recommend it, especially the outrageously titled, "I Love A Woman (With Big Titties)".
Hope yer good, my friend, best wishes, BF K

For the guy who's looking for the Power of Zeus. They are still posted at the Orion Awakes-blog (march-marzo 2007).

Hi Kit,

I never knew it was originally released way back then, but it makes since because I believe that was the year I saw Jim & BOA play to a wopping 10 or 15 people at a small bar here in town. They did the Big Titties song, but the album must have been really underground because I never heard or saw it (or anything else including Wild Bunch) until the blogs started up.

At the time of "Black Attack" & Jim's solo "Ready As Hell", they were signed to Heavy Metal America (an offshoot of Heavy Metal Records), here in Europe, so those records got pretty decent distribution over here. Since HMUSA had no base of operations in the States i take it these records crept out on indie labels in the US. Hence the fact we knew about them over here whilst you "septics" were unaware of their existence.
Lady fate is a cruel & fickle mistress.

Yeah, I did manage to find a copy of Ready As Hell in the late 80's and it's on the Hacienda label (?!!?!!). Never seen anything else on that label before or since. So I can attest to the rarity of the stuff.

Paper Garden is great! Thanks for that one. I also have a huge favor to ask of you. Could you please re-upload The Eyes of Blue - Crossroads in Time? I've been searching for that for a long time and have heard good things about it. Thanks a million!

First off, just wanted to say how much I enjoy your blogs, so much excellent rare heaviness...many thanks. I do have a request, was wondering if you might consider reposting the self titled 'dschinn' LP? I know you had posted it before, but the link is dead. I am in your debt...
