As the holiday season is now upon us (it comes earlier each year it seems), I have decided to share a few of my all time favorite albums (within my loosely structured guidelines of obscurity) and for my first selection I have chosen my favorite Jo Jo Gunne LP, and one I have been looking for since my treasured Rhino handmade CD was permanently borrowed by someone. This was the second album, released in '73 and not a bad song in the bunch. The great thing about the Gunne was they really didin't put out a bad record but this one just has that little something extra all around. The song 60 Minutes To Go is the best song about being in a rock band I've ever heard (even tops the Ballad of Mott, sorry Ian). Ready Freddy is an excellent hard rocker, and Broken Down Man and Take Me Down Easy are excellent boogie rockers. Also another fave is the synthesiser laden Roll Over Me. I wore a vinyl copy of this, at least the "A" side back in the 80's when I first discovered this gem!

I get tons of requests for the mighty Ash, and here is another installment in the series. 1976's Locked In.
http://depositfiles.com/files/405264
And another request before some more excellent NWOBHM sent by Kit and an early Christmas present sent by Skypilot. Here is Frost's 1969 Detroit styled hard rock featuring Dick Wagner (his steriodic sideburns & muscular guitar featured later in Lou Reed's band on Rock N Roll Animal and even later than that on some unfortunate mid to late 70's Alice Cooper which he can't be blamed like Goes To Hell). This one is pretty damn good.

And now for the NWOBHM porition of the show for today, I turn it over to Bigfoot Kit.
Here's the post-Kyuss, pre-Unida, SLO BURN mini album "Amusing The Amazing" (1996)
http://rapidshare.com/files/5204722/SLO_BURN_-_Amusing_The_Amazing__mini_.rar
and three more ultra-rare NWOBHM 7"s:
RICOCHET - Midas Light 7" (1980)
http://rapidshare.com/files/5219872/RICOCHET_-_Midas_Light_7____1980_.rar
SMOKIN ROADIE - Midnight 7" (1983)
http://rapidshare.com/files/5220408/SMOKIN_ROADIE_-_Midnight_7____1983_.rar
WHITE LIGHTNING - This Poison Fountain 7" (1984)
http://rapidshare.com/files/5107751/WHITE_LIGHTNING_-_This_Poison_Fountain_7____1984_.rar
As usual the NWOBHM stuff has txt files & cover art included in the rar file.
They're 3 really diverse ones this time, Ricochet is straight down the line NWOBHM.
Smokin Roadie more commercial.
White Lightning more prog-rock influenced.
And sent by Skypilot who is featuring Christmas music on his blog too (link is over on the sidebar) here is more Christmas music than I have ever seen in one place (except maybe a Tower records). This was a real labor of love:

Another grab bag o' goodies.
By request, here's the last Paul Revere and the Raiders LP to have any hint of garage rock to it. After this they sort of lost direction until they came back as the Raiders with the huge hit from '71 Indian Reservation. But the story on this album's title is that FM radio didn't want to know these guys toward the end of the 60's and in order to score some airplay they sent out the Let Me single under an alias. And that alias was Pink Puzz. Don't know if it helped their cause but it does paint an interesting picture of rock radio. This one is the Sundazed reissue with a few interesting bonus cuts.
http://depositfiles.com/files/397066
And here's the final album from Linn County. After the brillance of the 1st and the decent follow-up this is a bit of a disappointment. It's a change of direction and a bit on the country rock side, but it's interesting to give a listen to.
http://depositfiles.com/files/397010
Back in my metalhead days this was the first Gillan LP I ever bought. I got it used for a buck and at the time I thought I had it figured out why it was so cheap. Let's just say it saw very little airtime in my bedroom where Metallica and Slayer were the platters of choice. About 6 or 7 years ago I found the CD of this album and bought it to see if my teenage assessment and dismissal were in need of reprisal and to my surprise it became a favorite in my 30-something listening room and as I grabbed more and more Gillan goodies, decided this was my favorite. It's by no means a desert island disc or anything, but it's a very good hard rockin' LP!!
http://depositfiles.com/files/397200
AND NOW TO THE NWOBHM PORTION OF THE SHOW:
My entry for today is a kind of bastard child to most of the stuff that has been posted, but it still qualifies. The charmingly named Split Beaver released their one and only album on the UK Heavy Metal label (also home to Witchfinder General) to little or no fanfare, and all the major metal rags at the time gave it horrid ratings at best. It has more in common with bands like Tygers of Pan Tang or even late 70's Status Quo than with the Venoms, Leppards, and Diamond Heads usually associated with NWOBHM. But still, time has been good to this one and it gets much better reviews these days and is a worthy addition to any collection.
http://depositfiles.com/files/397338
And from Dirt, who has been MIA for awhile--here's one of the NWOBHM's best Savage with 1983's Loose N Lethal. This one smokes!!!
Thanks Dirt!!!
http://depositfiles.com/files/395735
And Bigfoot Kit sent me two. One being Quartz - Stand Up and Fight LP which was a personal request from myself (another smoking ass LP)
and Rex's 2nd LP, the prophetically titled Where Do We Go From Here (which Kit informed me was into the toliet as a third album they recorded was refused by their label for being too heavy and then dropped the band--good ol Columbia records!!). Not really metal but since I posted the 1st one here many moons ago, I thought the second should be here too. And it's very good, but not as wild as the first one.
QUARTZ - Stand Up & Fight (1980)

2. Can’t Say No To You
3. Stoking Up The Fires Of Hell

9. Circles (Bonus Track)

REX - WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE? (1977)
Columbia 82186
1. Where Do We Go From Here?
2. Do Me
3. Burn Your Bridges
4. 7 Come 11
5. You're Never Too Old To Rock n' Roll
6. Chains On My Heart
7. Don't Want Love
8. Stealing The Night Away
9. Running Wild

Happy Thanksgiving........
to those who celebrate it!!! And to those who don't, well, happy Thursday to you!! Here is a potpouri of groovy tunes to either bang your head too, or to sit and listen and get your mind in a festive mood regardless of what day it is. Here is a smokingly rare LP from a Southern Michigan band called the Fredric. This one has some bonus tracks and is fantastic psych. It was originally released in 1968 to little or no fanfare and now goes for insane sums of greenbacks.
http://depositfiles.com/files/392994
By request, Ian Gillan's 1979 lp Mr. Universe, and again this is the CD version with bonus tracks. In my opinion they could have left those off, but there is a cool version of Smoke on the WaWa that's alright. This album is much better than Child In Time or Clear Air Turbulance, which to my ears were misguided attempts at progressive music that just weren't that good. But when Gillan decided to start rockin' hard again (this album and the brilliant follow-up Glory Road which I will get posted eventually) all the pieces fell back into place. But the real glory road was a few years in the distance when he would rejoin Deep Purple for Perfect Strangers.
http://depositfiles.com/files/392112
For those folks diggin' on the southern rock of Hookfoot, here's another great band that did have a hit of sorts with Jackie Blue in the 70's (not on this album). This is kinda mellow, but still has a few rockin' tunes.
http://depositfiles.com/files/391957
Yes, more NWOBHM (more from Bigfoot Kit below too!!) to satisy your headbanging duties. This is Quartz with their Satan's Serenades EP from 1980.
This is one of my absolute favorites!!
http://depositfiles.com/files/391983
And this, I will try not to gush over too much. But it is one of my ten favorite metal albums of all time, and I can't really put into words why. Most metal reviewers like Martin Popoff also gush over this one. It's just an absolute classic. And it's the type of album that doesn't hit you right away. In fact the first time I heard it I thought it was a bit generic sounding. But over time it grew and grew to be a monster and I'd find myself humming Jesse James' or Carol. But the killer track I will love till my dying day is Handing You Over. Give this a shot and tell me what you think!!!!
http://depositfiles.com/files/393300
And before I hand it over to Bigfoot Kit for more NWOBHM goodies I'd just like to beg and plead for you to grab what you can from the rapidshare stuff. It's got about 1 or 2 more days tops unless I get 10,000 downloads and I'd like to at least keep it around another month to have time to transfer the more popular links over. And also if you could find it in your heart, please hit my other site www.liveandotherwise.blogspot.com and give those ads a click or two. I should have an update there either today or tomorrow at the latest.
Thanks everyone!!!!!

A couple quickies and a note
Got this done and wanted to get it up here. I know nothing about these guys except they are another Canadian band. Had this album for for years and got a request for it a couple days ago. Enjoyable album from 1977.

And I forgot to post this very cool 7" Kit sent. Another stoner rock tribute to Leafhound and Captain Beyond. This time from Unida and Entombed.

A QUICK NOTE TO ALL:
All of the rapidshare.de and rapidshare.com links will be expiring in 5-6 days. That is over 525 files from the beginning of the blog up until a month ago. There is no way in hell I can salvage these files so grab 'em quick. There is a chance the rapidshare.de account may be extended if I get 1000 points in the next 5-6 days but the rapidshare.com stuff is gonna be gone. I will eventually repost it all but I'd rather spend my time posting new stuff as opposed to wasting time on stuff that gets 2-4 downloads a week.

What the hell is a hookfoot?
Just good ol southern influenced rock n roll, that's all. Here is their first and second albums today and if you dig into the bowels of the ol blog here you should be able to dig up Roaring, their 4th somewhere. I also just got ahold of Communication, their 3rd LP on sealed vinyl which I will get up here soon. Enjoy. I read somewhere that Bob Kulick was a member. Don't know if he's on either of these or not.

Couple requests filled
When I posted the 1st Coven album I had a bunch of people ask if I had the other two. I didn't at the time but now I do and here's the 3rd and final, Blood on the Snow from 1974. Good stuff!!!
http://depositfiles.com/files/378786
I got a couple emails for more Canterbury stuff so here's one from the band that is probably the dictionary definition of the Canterbury sound, Soft Machine with their jazzy prog 4th album imaginatively titled 4. Luckily the music is much more imaginative.
http://depositfiles.com/files/378722
And staying with the NWOBHM theme here is the Loser EP from Angel Witch, their first output, I believe. I think this has bonus tracks on here. I'm not sure, I got this from P2P a long time ago and I never really checked it out.
http://depositfiles.com/files/378690
Enjoy, back soon with another Hookfoot, and some more psych & prog gems.

Lincoln St. Exit, Zon, and more NWOBHM
First:
A note to those who are having trouble with these files. I don't what causes it, but I've gotten emails and comments saying a couple of the files are corrupt. I can absolutely assure you, the files are not corrupt, I check each of them and I have never gotten a corrupt file (mine or from anyone else)from this upload host. If I had I never would have begun using them. I would recommend trying a download accelerator if you have continued problems and really want something I have on offer. If you don't want to mess with download accelerators, just try it again, it's free and there is no waiting period except 25 seconds or so at the very beginning. I love to share good music and I'd hate to think someone that would like to check it out can't. I feel that the music I share deserves a wider audience and that's why I do this. Now now for today's enlightenment:
These guys & Redbone. That's all I know of American Indian rock bands. And these guys (and the band they formed after this) are the only AI psych band I know of. I'm probably wrong but that's it for me. And this album rocks. Hard psych. Good hard psych. These guys went on to form XIT and further public awareness of "the plight of the redman" but for me, this is the one to get. An album that really deserves it's status as a top shelf collector's item. Take it for spin.
http://depositfiles.com/files/372667
By request from long ago. Canadian arena rock that sounds to my ears a hell of a lot like Styx. I bought the albums on a trek to Toronto a few years back on the strength of the cover of this first one. And I must say they are pretty damn good at what they do. There has been a CD reissue of both of these on one CD at some point, I know not if it's still in print or not. You may wanna check if you like this.
http://depositfiles.com/files/372594
The cover of the 2nd album.
http://depositfiles.com/files/372630
And for yet another installment in the NWOBHM series. This band has long been a favorite (and another band I first tried on the strength of the cover alone) since I first dropped a needle on "Love On Smack" from their Friends of Hell LP. What I have here is stuff I didn't discover until much later, their 1st 7" Burning A Sinner and their 12" EP Soviet Invasion. Both are fairly similar to the stuff on their 2 lone albums and dirgey Black Sabbathisms abound on both. The 7" is rough compared to the production of the 2 albums (and the 12" too) but it's a nice insight to where these guys came from.

I'm on a roll
And I have what is hopefully a delightfully diverse drove of ditties for your drinking and driving endeavors. Those are words with a D this time.
First up, the "real" Stillwater. A southern rock band with quite a soulful vocalist in the form of one Jimmy Hall. One thing I find funny, and it's not just these guys, but it seems to be southern rock bands in general have way to many friggin' people in their bands. I still remember the old .38 Special videos from the '80s with Donnie Van Zant standing with a guitar hittin' barre chords that couldn't possibly have been part of the music, plus there was only one guitar playin' at the time. Anyways, 7 dudes in this band (and a bass player named Allsion that looks like a dude so I will go with dude) and on any given song I hear at most a 5 piece band (and that's during the solos). 3 guitarists???? Well, that isn't to detract from the solid groovin' contained in this here slab o'tuneage. Best cut is the minor hit Mindbender but Sam's Jam, Fantasy Park and Rock N Roll Loser are all worthy of your ear for pure southern satisfaction.
http://depositfiles.com/files/371134
Another one I posted many moons ago in the early daze of this blog, and nobody much wanted it, cuz it was missing a couple tracks. Well here it is again, this time all tracks present. And I have also dug up the 2nd album, Fever Shot, and put it here. I do have the 3rd and album too, but it is pretty wasted and I'm going to have do some work on it, but if interest is there I will get up here. Promise.
http://depositfiles.com/files/370968
And here's the followup.
http://depositfiles.com/files/371055
As promised, the full LP of Vardis.
Love that blurb on the cover!!!

Finally---the other Hapshash!!!! and some requests
While I try to figure out what's wrong with the Eden file from yesterdays post.
First up today, a pleasant surprise!! I finally found the 2nd Hapshash album. The 1st was and is still a very popular file and was also one of the first albums I ever uploaded when I started this madness of blogging. So here is it is, and if the sound only comes out of one channel this time I'm commiting suicide because it's been checked numerous times.
http://depositfiles.com/files/369184
Now a couple requests:
First--someone asked for Vardis 100MPH and I didn't know if they meant the original EP from '79 (Redball records RR015) or the full album from a year or so later so first I am going to put up the EP. And as an added bonus here is a BBC Session with 4 tracks and none duplicate the EP.
Tomorrow or so I will try to get the album posted and just so you know, only 2 tracks from the ep are on the album so you Vardis fans may wanna grab them all.
100 MPH EP: http://depositfiles.com/files/369277
BBC Sessions: http://depositfiles.com/files/369331
And since I have been slacking on the prog side of things here is a request filled for some Kraan. To me these guys are on the rockin' side of prog but the arrangements and interplay of the band is what makes it great.

Lovin' this album!!!!!
Here's one I have been looking for forever. I have the 1st one by these guys (I think it's posted somewhere)and it's a fantastic garagey psych album with loads of fuzz and wah, and this one here is more of the same thank God. Ripped by someone other than me at 192k from vinyl and it sounds great. I would give this one 9 out of 10 stars. It's really that good to me!

Damn, I'm just a sucker for exploito-psych
Use thou imagination. Pretend there are pictures here because blogger is a thorn in the side of all that lives and it refuses to post the cool pics I had ready to beautify my written flakes of inverted dandruff. And I like the moron I am hit my computer yelling come on dammit like it's gonna make their sorry ass picture uploader work. Ahh dahellwitit, I'll post them later.....if it'll let me.
First up today, a very cool exploito fest released on the Smash label. It's called Psychedelia---A Musical Light Show by the Mesmerizing Eye. I have not a clue who anyone in the M.E. is and frankly, I don't care. This one is top shelf exploito and I came out of my usual catatonic state and muttered an ever so slight yippee when I found this. The kids wondered why the old man was all wound up and I'll tell ya. All the bells and whistles of the best of the genre, sub-par Hendrixesque solos, sound effects and you've got my kind-o-fun. Sorry bout the bitrate on this one(160), it ain't my rip and I have no idea's whose rip it is. But it still sounds good for comin' off-a that there second (third maybe?) rate vinyl that Mercury and Smash records tended to press this kind of item on. (I've seen mint lookin' slabs sound like a campfire was cracklin' in the mix. Rumor was all the good vinyl went to Jerry Lee Lewis and even Linda Gail couldn't get no satisfaction). But this is fairly trippin' stuff so I'll shut up and let you guys hear it.
http://www.uploading.com/files/D735NRPS/ME_PAMLS.rar.html
And for my second post of the day, it's the 2nd and last elpee from those theramin lovin' freaks called Lothar and the Hand People. It's called Space Hymn. I posted the first LP, Introducing many travels ago and it has all the bonus stuff you'd get if you bought the CD with their complete recordings, so if you put that and this together, you got it. Did that make sense? Anyhee, needless to say this stuff is el-fun-o and I like it mucho much. So, I can only hope that you will too.
http://depositfiles.com/files/361624
And if you don't, I have posted, with permission, some honest -to - God NWOBH stuff posted below that Bigfoot Kit sent, along with an EP of his great band Bigfoot which explains his nick much better than anything else ever would. I'll let him take over comments at this point.

Here's a few more.....
Some good garage-psych especially the 7 minute guitar rave up which closes the album. Fun stuff from the Human Beinz.
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=LT6U1JSH
Seems like quite a few of the West Coast psych bands spent the early 70's switching to a more country rock oriented style. IABD are no exception with their 1971 LP Marrying Maiden. It still has a nice laid back charm to it, but it's not as good as the self titled debut.
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=Z6BEAICS
After the WIshbone Ash albums were posted a week or so ago, got a lot of emails and a request or two in the comments for more. Well, for starters here is their 1974 album There's the Rub. I had listed it as their 1982 album and written a blurb that was meant for Twin Barrells Burning which I will post at a later date.

Seems like quite a few of the West Coast psych bands spent the early 70's switching to a more country rock oriented style. IABD are no exception with their 1971 LP Marrying Maiden. It still has a nice laid back charm to it, but it's not as good as the self titled debut.
