Here (finally) are the 2 LPs I have of the seventies blues rock of Heads Hands and Feet. Tracks was released in 1972 on Capitol records (ST-11051), Old Soldiers Never Die was released on Atco records in 1973 (SD-7025). Both albums feature the same line up of Tony Colton on vocals, Ray Smith on guitar and bass, Albert (the Great) Lee on guitar, Pete Gavin on drums and Chas Hodges mainly on bass (also played most of the southern rock influences such as fiddle and banjo).

Last up today, is the tough to find hard rock gem "Too Wild To Tame" by the Boyzz. Produced by Sandy Pearlman, who did a bunch of Blue Oyster Cult LPs, it kinda has the same vibe as their early LPs (without the mystical lyrics). This was recorded from LP and side two especially has a few pops and cracks.

I think I have all the bases covered today. I have some free time and I went on an uploading frenzy. I am frazzled!


First Up: Illinois Speed Press (1st album only, but this is the only good cover pic I could find. If anyone has Duet, I'd love to hear all of it, I have only managed to find a couple tracks.
Released in 1969 on Columbia records #9792. Cool bluesy rock.
Produced by James Guercio who was responsible for Blood Sweat & Tears and Chicago, so take that as either a plus or a warning, but I will say this sounds little like either of the aforementioned.

Bloodrock 2 was released in 1970 on Capitol records (#470). Lucky in the Morning, the lead track was written by the great John Nitzinger.
This one has their only top 40 hit, the gruesome "D.O.A." in it's full length version so you can live through the whole crash.

Members were Mike Harrison, Mike Kellie, Greg Ridley and Luther Grosvenor. Produced by the infamous Guy Stevens who was also responsible for the Hapshash LP below.

First up today is the first LP by former Free guitarist Paul "Koss" Kossoff. The album's title later became the name of his band. It was released on Island records (9264) in 1973.

Jamme was a one shot LP of folk with psych and rock leaning that was produced by Papa John Phillips. Nice mellow LP with some great songs and a cool vibe throughout. Released in 1970 on the Dunhill-Warlock label (50072) it featured Don and Keith Adey, as well as studio vets Larry Knechtel on bass and the infamous Jim Gordon on skins.

This is the 3rd Lp from Frijid Pink and is a mixed bag. I don't think it is as good as their 2 earlier Parrot LPs, but some insist it is their favorite. But download it and see how you feel about it.

And lastly, this is something kinda weird I picked up a few years and I think it is pretty cool space rock type stuff, if you enjoy that sort of thing. I have never seen it anywhere other than the copy I have, but it may be out there somewhere. It is just called Outer Space Music and has no group (s) listed. It kind of reminds me a bit of the Neil Norman type stuff from the 70's and 80's and this has no release date on it, but it sounds more 80's than 70s to me.

Next, just because I was listening to it today and felt like plopping it up here, is a great grab bag of Iveys demos from 1968. Released as Someday We'll Be Known:the '68 Demos, it is a fasinating look into the band that soon afterward became the beloved Badfinger. Another low bitrate, but still well worth investigating.

From the sessions that eventually got lumped in with a lot of inferior stuff on the LP Opel, is my favorite Syd Barrett ditty "Milky Way". It makes me both happy and sad because it such a great song, but at the same time you can hear Syd disintegrating. Shame about Syd!!!

I dig the Turtles a lot and I dig Frank Zappa a lot. I also dug when Frank and Flo & Eddie from the Turtles got (happy) together for awhile in the early seventies. Here is a cool interview from that period. And also a nice Flo & Eddie radio show spot with a guy named Marc.

Lastly, although my tastes seem to run toward the psych, hard rock and progressive end of things, I love ALL kinds of music. I was a punk in the early eighties, a metalhead in the late eighties, just to name a couple of my phases. So eventually, things may show up here that are quite diverse, because while you'll most often find me listing to some crazed out psych LP or some heavy progressive German monster, you're just as likely to find me listening to Slayer, Foghat, Dead Kennedys, Deep Purple, Muddy Waters, John Coltrane, or something like this--the Beat Farmers with the late great Country Dick Montana (not to be confused with Handsome Dick Manitoba from the Dictators) doing their personal take on the Zep.

Sunday Morning Coming Down (soon)

Here is some music for your Sunday brunch.

There is Moby Dick the Zep song, Moby Dick the punk band and Moby Dick the extreme metal band. There is also Moby Dick from Italy who did some great ahead of their time boogie metal and here is the self titled LP from 1973. A great LP that is extremely rare. Akarma did a CD reissue a few years back.
I highly recommend this one.

A great acid rock LP with early traces of metal and a heavy Steppenwolf vibe. Mount Rushmore released two smokin' LPs on Dot, This was their 1st from 1969.

Lastly here is the hard to find soundtrack from 1992 for the movie Bad Channels. This movie with it's hair metal themes should have been called Bad Timing, because that what it became a victim to. Released at the beginning of the grunge era, nevertheless containing some great music by Blue Oyster Cult (and a band called Joker) that was sadly overlooked.

Missus Beastly! What can I say about this album? It is very early Krautrock and it is borderline psychotic. I love to play this for people. If they don't like it, I play it again. It's that fun!!!! This one was released in '69 and then reissued in '74. Sorry about the tags, the guy who sent it to me didn't tag them right and I never got around to fixing them. I'm sure the titles are floating in cyberspace somewhere.

Another great LP no one seems to talk about is the self titled first LP by Womb. Released in 1969 also, on Dot records, this one is of the psych folk variety, with male/female vocals and a trippy rural vibe. For a little while.....then acid bent fuzz guitar comes ripping out of your speakers, rave ups and freak outs appear out of nowhere and it all goes horribly into damage mode. Challenging and fun to listen to. Anybody have their other LP?

The pics keep getting bigger and bigger. This album sells routinely for four figures. I received my CD-R version in a free trade with a guy who routinely sells albums like this for four figures. I have made my judgement and will then turn it over to you, if I paid over one thousand dollars for this, I would be in a very dark depression for many weeks after the purchase. This is the "other" Shaggs, a garage band who released this in 1967 on MMC (probably their own imprint). No number was assigned. It is basically garage covers done fairly note for note. God, I hate when I wait years to hear something and it disappoints like this did.

First off I'd to thank everyone for stopping and checking out this place. It's starting to feel like home.

Here's something completely different! This is actually the Statler Brothers whose '67 hit Flowers On the Wall ensured their coolness forever. This was a request and I don't really remember what the reason I even have this is, but I do (hey, I have some ABBA too, so........). Anyways, this is is not your average Statler Bros. release. Originally unleashed upon country fans in 1974 it is a spoof of the old time radio shows that played in every little nook and cranny of the world at one time. But Lester and the Boys are really not very good, or maybe they are so bad they're good. Which, considering the fact that they were such a tight group on their "real" records, begs a question. Is it easier for the good to play bad than it is for the bad to play good?? Does that even make any sense? Does anyone care?

This one will disappoint a few people. The disc I had archived this album on said (well the disc didn't say it but the computer flashed a message) two of the files were unreadable and could not be recovered. (Not in those exact words, I am paraphrasing here). Many call it garage rock, but I think it's more like frat rock. It's The Wailer's Tall Cool One, and unfortunetly mine is from the 1964 Imperial mono album, not this snazzy Collectables CD, but mine didn't have a cover because back when I burned it no one knew what a scanner was (or at least I didn't). These guys are great though and I dig em a lot.

These four ladies to the left are known as Vanilla Ninja. "Why are they called Vanilla Ninja?" you may ask. "Well I have no idea" I'd reply, "but they are quite the honeys and they look a hell of a lot better than the blank space that would be next to the next album I uploaded because I couldn't find a pic of it!!! " That slab o' vinyl is called Freakout!! (please never forget those two exclamation points) - The Great New Guitar Sounds. Exploito psych at it's worst and released on two different labels (and the songs were recycled more than that) Spin O Rama and Premier (the later is where mine came from) .
Most of it is just your basic studio hacks jammin on 1965 go-go bar music with a King Curtis wannabe honkin' like his paycheck depended on it. I say this is one of the worst because the band really didn't try to sound psychedelic at all, but I think the case may be these tracks were rehauled from other attempts at exploitation. So here it is, and I swear the vinyl looked mint on this!!!!

An early start to posting some of favorite Krautrock albums is the 1st LP from the band Rufus Zuphall - Weil Der Teufel. It sounds like Jethro Tull circa "This Was" on some serious drugs. I absolutely love it. It was originally released in 1969 on the Good Will label. Enjoy!

Baroques Warpig

This is a small post just a get 2 files I didn't get to yesterday out of the way before a rather large posting tonight. This is the only official LP these guys released in their2 year lifetime, on the Chess label. Apparently Chess was trying to branch into rock for a brief period and most of those releases were on the Cadet label making this one of the few rock LPs of any kind on that label. It was released in 1967 (Chess

Ragweed or Acupulco Gold?

Raw Honey - Ragweed (1974 RH 1057). Private pressing hippie folk with some sike vibes throughout. I have never been able to find any info on this album which I taped around 1995, and web searches have been futile at best. So here it is and I did something a bit different this time: The file has not been broken into segments except for the last song which for some reason or another was on a different part of the tape, so if you'd like to sample this album before you download the whole thing, just grab part 2, it is a fair representation of the rest of the LP. But if you like the psych folk type of stuff, you'll like this. Enjoy........

More hard to find albums

Today's post features two psych Lps from my collection. The first is Hapshash and the Colored Coat (featuring the Human Host and the Heavy Metal Kids) from 1967 on the Imperial label. Often refered to as a freeform freakout like Red Crayola, I think this one has a bit more personality going for it. I found a great review on the net which captures the spirit of the album much than I ever could.

How To Blow Your Mind and Have a Hookfoot party

Hello again,

Have 2 quite diverse elpees to share this evening. First up is Hookfoot's Roaring album, released in 1973 on A&M records (cat. # SP-4409). This was ripped in 320kbps directly from the vinyl album so a little surface noise will be present, but the LP was a really clean dj copy so it's fairly minimal. I serched the web for a pic of the cover and came up empty handed, but I did find a really cool (and small) Fin Costello photo to post of the band in action.





Here's the link to the tunage, which by the way is of the classic hardrock variety with a touch of southern rock added in a stylish way.

Lastly in the catagory of exploito-psych comes one of my fave LPs, by the Unfolding called, How To Blow Your Mind and Have A Freakout Party. Not much known about this one but as far as this kinda stuff goes, it is one the harder titles to find. It was released on the Audio Fidelity label in 1967.



This one was not ripped by me and is in 192kbps. Being as hard to find as it is, I was glad to get it at all!!

Here's One More For Today

This is a bit off the path of what I will be putting here usually, but it was with the GG & F elpee I posted and I thought someone might dig it. It's a boot of the Raspberries that I got many moons ago and is a cool little rarity. Tracks 1-6 are from a Don Kirshner's Rock Concert broadcast in 1973, 7-11 are from a DKRC '74 b'cast, tracks 12-15 are from a Cleveland Ohio tv show called Flipside broadcast circa 1973/4 and the final tracks, 16-19 are from the Berries 1998 reunion show. You get a bit of overlapping on the tracks, for example Go All the Way is on every segment, and the sound is less than perfect (but still quite listenable!!), but it's just one of those fun artifacts I have lying around. I hope someone will enjoy it as I have for many years!!!

Here's some Cheerful Insanity from Robert Fripp

Up next is a weird, fun LP by Robert Fripp and the brothers Giles (not to be confused with the brothers Gibb). It was released in early 1968 and sounds unlike anything else Fripp has done since (IMHO). I ripped this CD to MP3 (320kbps) a couple years ago and sold the disc, so I don't have covers but I'm sure they can be found if you look around on the net somewhere. Not only does it include the LP but also all singles released in stereo and mono and I believe an outtake or two. Enjoy the Cheerful Insanity of Giles, Giles and Fripp.
